EXHIBITION
ONE PLACE AFTER ANOTHER
20 June - 19 August 2018

Curator: Victor Misiano
Co-curator: Anna Zhurba
"One Place After Another" is the title of the exhibition intended to be the main event of the fourth session of the "The Lot of Man" – a large-scale project being put on in Moscow by the National Centre for Contemporary Art and ROSIZO, in conjunction with the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre. The name – like the name of the project itself and its exhibitions that have already been held ("Electoral Affinity", "Don't You Think It's Time for Love?", and "Haunted House") – is borrowed. It refers to the noted book by the American art historian Miwon Kwon, in which it was shown for the first time in a thoughtful and detailed way how contemporary art comprehends and embodies the phenomenon of space. After all, while the art of the past in all its different types and genres had recreated images of different places over the centuries, it was in the era of modernity that art asked the question: what, in fact, can be considered a place? And it is precisely in our time that philosophers, sociologists, anthropologists and urbanists have come to address the definition and analysis of this concept.
